Below are available as both standalone courses and as part of degree programs at FCU.


This is a general listing of all courses and are not meant to be in any specific order. Courses are subject to change.

KNOWING GOD
What is the Gospel? Who is God? and what can be known about Him? The starting place in any ministry endeavor is to have a strong and intimate relationship with God. This course brings the learner to a new level of understanding regarding who God is and what His desire is relationally with His people. Here, we use the Gospel as a frame for studying the Christian faith and theology.

OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY I
Providing an overview of The Old Testament scripture from Genesis to II Kings, this course gives students a solid overview of the Old Testament. The perusal through each book presents the author, message, theme and spiritual emphasis revealing the intertwining thread of redemption to mankind.

OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY II
This course is a continuation of Part I. The splitting of the Kingdom ushered in a new methodology of God’s interaction with His people, that of the prophetic message. The power of a covenant keeping God provides the platform from which this study blossoms.

NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY I
This course is an historical and thematic survey of the contents of the four Gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John, along with the Book of Acts. Particular attention has been paid to the cultural, historical and geographical settings for the preparation, entrance, and ministry of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY II
This course is a continuation of New Testament I and offers a historical and thematic survey of the contents of the New Testament from Acts to Revelation. Special focus is given to the impact of the message of Kingdom living that the epistles present.

DOCTRINE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT I
A thorough study of the Pentecostal doctrine of the Holy Spirit, giving special attention to the person and work of the Holy Spirit. This course focuses on knowing and experiencing the Holy Spirit’s presence and empowerment in Christian life.

THE LIFE OF CHRIST

A thorough study of the life and divinity Jesus Christ, and His earthly ministry as recorded in the four Gospels of the New Testament. This course also includes a historical survey of the Intertestamental Period (The gap of time between the period covered by the Hebrew Bible and the period covered by the Christian New Testament). Here, the political and socio-economic parameters that influenced His ministry are examined as well.

COVENANT THEOLOGY

This course introduces the student to the sacredness of the blood covenant of Jesus Christ. Covenant Theology reveals the principles and corresponding application of the blood covenant that is interwoven throughout the Scriptures. The student’s personal relationship with God will be enhanced as the powerful content of this course is internalized and practiced in a daily walk with God.

DISCIPLESHIP I

The Great Commission that Jesus gave to His disciples in Matt.28:19-20 was to go and make disciples of all men. This course presents the philosophy, approach, and tools that will assist the students in leading others to maturity.


“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Matthew 28:19-20

CHRIST THE HEALER

Through a thorough Biblical study of divine healing the students taking this course will gain an understanding of the ministry of healing provided in the atonement of Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible provides unquestionable evidence that it is God’s will to heal the sick. Also covered in this course are reasons why people fail to receive healing and how to minister healing to others.

MINISTERIAL ETHICS

This course has been carefully designed as a guide for the ministerial candidate toward Biblical and theological norms regarding making correct moral choices in ministry. Offering a comprehensive overview of Christian ethics, the course presents the foundational keys to maintaining professionalism, integrity and ministerial etiquette once the students start move into a professional setting.

DOCTRINE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT II

The work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is constant. This course outlines the Holy Spirit’s role in the maturation process along with the definition and objectives inherent in the nine spiritual gifts. The relevance and function of spiritual gifts for today is fully explored as well.

CHURCH HISTORY I

This course offers a study of the development of the Christian church with emphasis upon the major historical movements, leaders, and theological issues from the First Century to the Middle Ages. Particular attention is given to the structure, purity and simplicity of the early church that led to its tremendous evangelical thrust.

HERMENEUTICS

We are told in the scriptures that we are to rightly divide the Word of God. In this class, students learn how to interpret the scriptures accurately. The students will have an opportunity to learn the principles given in the Bible that will keep them in truth and out of error. This course is imperative for all those who plan on preaching or teaching God’s Word.

UNDERSTANDING RIGHTEOUSNESS

The course on righteousness includes a study of the two views being taught today on the subject, plus a study on Paul’s teaching in the Epistles as related to our righteousness in Christ. Also included, is a side study on redemption in order to give an overview of how God made us righteous through Jesus’ death, His burial and His resurrection. Lastly, students will learn the benefits of our righteousness today as believers.

DISCIPLESHIP

The Great Commission that Jesus gave to His disciples in Matt.28:16-20 was to go and make disciples of all men. It is not enough to win people to the Lord. We must guide new converts to a place of stability in their relationship with God and their Kingdom involvement. This course presents the philosophy, approach, and tools that will assist the student in leading others to maturity.


“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:16-20

DESTINY IN MINISTRY

Throughout this course, you will be presented with the invaluable truths and principles of God’s divine destiny as it is outlined in the Scriptures. By examining the lives and the stories of such Biblical examples as Joseph, King David, and Jesus and His disciples, the elements of one’s personal destiny will be made more and more evident through the understanding of God’s divine process toward destiny.

PARABOLIC LITERATURE

An in-depth study of the major parables of Jesus as presented in the Synoptic Gospels (The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke), with particular attention given to Luke’s parables. Through this unique methodology of Jesus’ teaching, Kingdom truths were communicated to His disciples who then turned the world upside down proclaiming the Gospel. This course offers a cultural and analytical view of the parables. You will never be the same after you have explored the timeless truths inherent in parabolic literature.

THE THEOLOGY OF GRACE

This course is designed to explore and discuss several of the major themes found in Peter’s letters. This class supplies practical applications with understanding concerning; the believer’s relationship to God and others, the place of suffering in a believer’s life, filtering the error of false teachers with the power of Truth, and the certainty of the Lord’s return.

MESSIANIC PSALMS

This study guides the student to an understanding of the prophetic nature of the specific Psalms pertaining to Christ. Utilizing an exegetical approach to the predictive Psalms about the Messiah, this course presents the plan of salvation through the person of Jesus Christ. Penned nearly a thousand years before the advent of Christ, the Messianic Psalms reveal the glory, majesty, and passion of our Lord.

EPHESIANS
PATTERN FOR REVIVAL: THE TABERNACLE

God is moving by His Spirit in these last days like no time in human history. Yet, to fully understand the present move of God it is important to examine the patterns that led to the great visitations of God to ancient Israel. “Pattern for Revival” takes the student on a journey into the innermost courts of God’s presence. The Old Testament pattern given to Moses on Mount Sinai presents, in type, what every Christian can experience, in reality, in their Christian walk.

TRICHOTOMY

Man is a three-part being. He is a spirit, possesses a soul, and lives in a body. This course focuses on the interaction of these components within man himself and in man’s relationship with God. Particular attention is given to the Biblical principles and parallels relative to this study in leading the student to the overcoming life.

ISRAEL & THE END OF DAYS

What do current events in Jerusalem tell us about the end times? Jerusalem has a rich, fascinating history spanning more than 3,000 years. But the city’s most significant days are still to come. The stage is now being set for both a terrifying destruction and an amazing deliverance… far beyond what anyone could ever imagine!

THE HEART OF A LEADER

This course deals with the specifics of the preparation of the heart for leadership in ministry. A greater understanding of the requirements to make ready for a special purpose, to make suitable, to fit, to adapt, to train, to equip or to furnish. This course explores the scriptural dynamics of the heart that God is looking for and that is necessary to be able to endure through all the seasons and requirements of ministry and leadership.

HEBREWS

This course is designed to study the book of Hebrews with emphasis on the “Superiority of Christ” and His high priestly work. The ministry of Jesus takes on richer depth and clarity as this epistle is taught and understood. This class will provide that in addition to Jesus’ present-day ministry to believers today.

JOHANNINE LITERATURE

This course is designed to explore the overall content of John’s Gospel, it’s purpose and related teaching. While the other Gospels survey a large variety of events in Jesus’ earthly ministry, the Gospel of John zeros in on several key events, personal encounters, and statements in the life of Jesus. This class brings truth to the deity of Jesus and establishes belief in the Son of God.

PRINCIPLES OF PRAYER

This course is designed to examine the scriptures on the principles of prayer and to help the students prepare to pray with greater confidence and effectiveness. The New Testament reveals that much power is made available through the effective and fervent prayer of the saints. This class will give you the guidelines to experience this power.

NEW CREATION REALITIES

The study of the new creation in Christ. What happens when a person is born again and receives the new nature in Christ Jesus? This new nature is the secret source of the believers’ power to overcome sin, the world and the devil. It is the unending, insurmountable strength of the believer’s life to overcome, obtain victory and take advantage of every good thing Jesus died to give us.

MINISTERING BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

This course explores the gifts and ministry of the Holy Spirit as it relates to one’s personal call to ministry. Mature Christians with a well-defined ministry, or those in the developmental stages, will become more fruitful by understanding the dynamics of a Spirit-led ministry. This class discovers the Biblical pattern of God’s call to His servant as it relates to every aspect of ministry.

INTRODUCTION TO MISSIONS

This course provides an introduction to the theology of the Christian Mission in the Old and New Testaments, the responsibilities of the individual, the pastor, and the local church in implementing a missionary vision are given particular attention. Introduction to Missions will examine the missionary’s motives, objectives, calling, qualifications, and preparation as well as the spiritual and cultural life of the missionary in the field.

THE MINDS OF MINISTRY LEADERSHIP

This course will reveal Biblical truths that will counter the popular belief of many that we have to be perfect to do God’s work. A thorough study of the twelve disciples, whose many weaknesses are forever preserved throughout the pages of the New Testament, will allow the student to see clearly that Jesus chooses ordinary men and women. In spite of character flaws, missteps and human weakness, God is able to accomplish His plan in the earth.

ACTS: A GLOBAL VISION

This course is designed to study the Book of Acts as a manual for worldwide evangelism. By following the pattern that brought in a mighty harvest with the early church, we can experience the same results in our own harvest fields today. This class is a powerful study of the Spirit’s work to draw the world to the saving knowledge of Jesus.

HOMILETICS

Homiletics I is designed to acquaint the student with practical principles of preaching and teaching. It is through the “foolishness” of preaching that God has chosen to reach the world. This class will give you the framework from which the Holy Spirit can build a word that will transform a life.

TRANSITION IN MINISTRY

Throughout this course, you will be presented with the invaluable truths and principles of transition in ministry as it is outlined in the Scriptures. By examining the lives and stories of such Biblical examples as Joshua, Samuel, Jesus and His disciples, the elements of transition will be made more and more evident through the understanding of God’s divine process.

BUILDING A SUCCESSFUL MINISTRY TEAM

The content of this course will become a catalyst, thrusting the student into a clear understanding of how to develop team oriented ministry. Presented in the unique, yet popular seminar format, “Building A Successful Ministry Team” provides the sound foundational principles that lead to a harmonious and effective ministry environment in the local church. Particular attention is given to proven methodologies of staff and volunteer communication.
